bummer! Verified the timing and the carb already had a 295 and 70 I put a 72 main while I had it apart. I'm now thinking something is wrong with the way that I wired it. I have the ign and coil powered by the white wire with the black trace that is switched with the run/stop handle bar switch. I'm thinking that it may not be giving either the ign or coil the proper power. Back to the fsm ....I guess

You just need to tune it. You went with some type of aftermarket ignition, right? Is it adjustable? That is, is there a slightly more aggressive curve? Try that. And like I said, change one jet, ride it, keep notes, change it the other way, etc. Takes time. Or bring it to a tuner guy with a dyno and pay.

The enrichener should be closed, no? Since it is more or less used in the same capacity as a choke I like to keep it open only to start the bike then completely closed. This is where fine tuning, especially the air mixture screw, comes in.

I agree to only use the enrichner to start the bike. I was using it to kind of troubleshoot the amount of fuel in the carb. I'll get after it again in the next few days and see what I can find, going to rain here anyway! on the bright side my '97 is running great!
