I have a 97 superglide sitting in the shed with a s&s carb and bone stock reman motor that I will one day do some power tweaking too.

As for the jetting my buddy that has been doing this sort of stuff for many moons told me the way he decides on the pilot jet is by hitting the throttle in third gear upto 6000 rpm until it starts sputtering like its starving on fuel and when you get that you go up one size and call it done. He had told me this after I told him I was running the following in my dales killer carb
When I got new carb from dale it had 195-.174,50-.020 , med spring,n72v needle with 1 shim, idle mixture 2 1/4 turns
That isn't the right way to find the right jets for an S&S carb.

BTW if you want a CV carb for that 97 I will happily swap you mine for that S&S that is on it now.

Go through the tuning stuff from S&S. It sounds like you are too fat. I think the S&S's ship out way fat. At least the two I have put on did.

Could the jetting be my issue?? Just to recap:
1998 ultra Classic
New top end, fresh hone, all new gaskets, new rings
Ev 27
S&s super e
Ultima programmable ignition
Dyna coil

The bike has strong spark

I'm so close!! Any suggestions???
Couple links for quick reference on setting up the SuperE carb. I used these last year when I was having issues and she purrs like a kitten still today.

51-1012 Installation and Jetting Instructions for S&S Super E and G Series "Shorty"
51-1013 Carburetor Super E & G Twin Cam Engines

Both have all the info you should need to get it dialed in.

Willing to bet if you change your jets to .295 and .70 you will be on the money unless you live in Colorado at the top of a mountain
