Ok 90% better after putting more fuel from the accelerator pump. Exhaust note still sounds dull. Take off power is still low, motor pings a little when letting out the clutch in first gear. Will going to a larger intermediate jet help?

What have you done to your motor?
If it is stock or up to a stage 2 then the problem isn't in your carb.

Pinging is timing.

What size motor, what's the plug gap set at, are you sure the timing isn't off sounds out if she starts & idles well but acts anemic and what size jets are already in it ? Stock evo's like the .295 , the .031 is a bit fat for most bikes.

Get the bike warm and at an idle slowly turn the mixture screw in ( lean ) till she stutters then slowly turn it out ( rich ) till she acts like the chokes still on then back it off to half way between the two positions with just a hair to the rich side like maybe an 1/8th turn then see how she acts AFTER you double check the timing with a light.

What timing curve are you using?
Are you still running a VOES?

What do your plugs look like? Black tan or white and How many turns do you have the idle mixture screw?

It's 80 inch motor with an ev 27, cycle shack muffler pipes, ultima 53 644 ignition, and Dyna coil. I have an hd voes hooked up, but currently have the switch on the ign off for the voes. I actually have all the switches off on the ign per the instrctions for my motor per the ultima instructions. I can tell I'm close but just not right yet

Plug gap is right at .40, I have not pulled the plugs this evening. I'm working a double shift tomorrow, so the next time I look at it will be Tuesday night. ill have to get a timing light on it. I thought static timing would be good enough

Static timing is good to get the bike running.
Dynamic timing is to get the bike running right.
After you get it timed right then turn on the VOES.
Then start at curve one and if you get pinging go to curve two repeat as necessary to get pinging to stop.
I'll be very surprised if the pinging doesn't stop after you hook up the VOES.

Just something to check but is the coil ohm rating compatible with that ign. module ? Some use 3 ohm others use 5. Ultima tend to copy other manufactures ignition systems with generic imported components and sorry I'm not real familiar with that one but it sounds either the old crane style with the 5 little dip switches or the DYNA 2000 knock off and those used the 3 ohm coils . Check to make double sure the wiring is done right as they can be done a couple ways if I remember right, turn the VOES back on and try your luck.

Have never had any problems setting static timing off the #1 TDC and the module dial back method, make sure you are on the right mark on the flywheel
