Jason if you're going to use decimal points at least put them in the right place.
The jets you are recommending are the 0.0295 and 0.070.
While I agree with the 0.0295 the 0.070 is too small.
You will starve the motor on the top end.
Keep the 0.072 that came in the carb.

I have tried all different combinations in my bike and the stock jets were what worked the best.

Oh and when Dr Hess is saying the S&S carbs are too fat he is referring to the pre '04 carbs. (We had a long chat about it once).

OK...after some research, I found that the carb shipped with: .028 and .066. I'll check the timing, then I'll shut off the accelerator pump to check the intermediate jet. I found a great video on youtube showing an s&s tech tuning / jetting a bike on a dyno. I do feel like it needs more gas, because the more I turned the acc pump, the better it ran on the top end, and when I was I was trying to figure it out. I pulled out with the enrichner half way on and it had the bottom end I was looking for. I'll report my findings back tomorrow

Those sound awful small to me but S&S did do another remodel of their carb in '13 so they might be good.

IN GENERAL, too lean and it will pop out the carb. Too fat and it runs with low power.

In Turbo MR2 circles, it seemed to me that they used to tune by cranking up the boost, cranking up the fuel to pig rich, then leaning it out (more HP) until a chunk of a piston crown went out the exhaust port, then richen it up one and your there. Without boost, it is a bit less dramatic.

Dr Hess, if the bike had more power with the enrichner on, would that lead you to believe that it needs more fuel?

Yeah, maybe. The way I tune carbs is: Make a chart of what jets are in there. Go for a ride, at least 20 minutes to get everything warmed up. Make notes as to performance observations. Let it cool off. Change one jet fatter or leaner. Go for a ride. Make notes as to performance, what was different? Worse, better? Change the jet accordingly. Keep going until it is all running right. In general, start out fat and work leaner, but there's lots of variables. Turn the accelerator pump off until you get the rest dialed in, like the S&S destructions say. Make sure the idle is set at where they said to as well. Change that last.

That must have been one of the changes made in '13.

I hope it works out tonight. I'm ready to ride more and wrench less!
