Default More about cheap tyres

Fitted a set of Maxxis tyres to a 1992 Dyna on Saturday, roads were wet in places on the 30 mile ride to the Warrant of Fitness Station so I took it easy while they scrubbed in...on the way back it pissed down the whole way and considering the pair (100/90 x19 and 130/90 x16) cost $245 NZD (about $169.00 in Yankee money ) I was very impressed with how they handled in the wet.....good feedback through the seat of the pants and even when I took a detour through an urban area with slick, wet, greasy roads they never gave any cause for concern.

I run Maxxis Bravo's on my Ute (pickup) and am very impressed with them too....but considering Maxxis used to be Chen Shin, who made the 2nd worst tyres on the planet back in the 80's (swallow were the worst I ever encountered) they seem to have got their **** together in a big way now.

Doubtless they won't last as long as a tyre costing twice the price but I'll keep y'all posted about that as time goes by.

The cheap tire I'm absolutely sold on is the Michelin Commander II. Long lasting and much better handling then Dunlops. I got over 30,000 miles on my front tire and it was only $170.00 on the rim and balanced. (I did the install.) I have 18,000 on the back and it looks brand new.
