Man I love Wide Glides. I love my Softails and GOD willing, will never be without one, but I do truly love those Wide Glides. ( The real WG's. Notice there isn't a D in there anywhere.)

ndmick: your scooter pic is now among the other honored guests of my Dream Bikes album.

Oh Yeah. I love my 99 Softail Custom, but those early Wide Glides were ultra cool. The later Dynas not so cool but still nice. I replaced the ignition in my 84 Sportster with points and it ran better than it did with the module. Lost a little gas mileage as points do not advance quite as far. But otherwise I loved it and never had a problem in 30,000 miles before I sold it.

I had an idea today. Write the point and plug gap info on a small white card and clear tape it to the backside of the points cover. It would be wise to also include the TDC and advance marks since not all years have the same marks.

Reminds me of a friend, some years ago. He bought a secondhand XLCR Sporty, which didn't run very well, so we took the timer cover off, to take a look inside. There was a note, no doubt from an exasperated mechanic: "If you didn't f*ck about with the f*cker the f*cker wouldn't f*ck you about". Jus' sharin'.....
