Default Derby Cover Gasket or "O" Ring ?

My derby cover currently has a regular O-ring seal. Can I replace it with a gasket as shown or are they for another type of derby cover?

That will fit your derby cover.
There are other types though.
The Dealer sells one that is a solid disk with 3 holes and one side says toward clutch.

Is that an AFM gasket?

Its a James gasket. I sorta ordered it by mistake. With this gasket, the derby sticks out a little bit. No big deal if as long as its OK to use. Seems like a good gasket that can be re-used a few times.

AFM isn't a brand it is a type of gasket.
AFM stands for aluminum foam matt.
Basically it is a piece of aluminum with foam on both sides.

AFM gaskets can be reused several times before they wear out.

Oh OK. Thanks. Yes, it is molded rubber, beaded oil seals with metal inserts . Appreciate the info.

I love these gaskets. I think my cam case and trans gaskets are this material as I successfully reused both. So much nicer than scraping like old gaskets.

Wait I have a TC now...wrong forum...

I replaced my "O" ring with the later HD gasket that is full sheet. It is much easier to install as the O ring type was a pain.

My '90 has both the O ring and the disc gasket, it's apart as I write! The parts book only shows the O ring.

Mine also has the O ring and the disc gasket as well. I have never replaced either in 5 years. Regular clutch maintenance and no leak.

Suppose to use one or the other, but I guess both works too.
