I have to hold the switch for my turn signals down in order for them to stay on. Is there any way to get the switch that to stay on till it is turned off? I have a 1988 FLHTC.
Just think, you won't be one of those people riding down the road with their turn signal still on,like I did with my newer bike. I'm forgetful...
I like my 86 turn signal..... however someone will be along to help,I'm sure it can be done.
Spanners39 has a lot of experience with the Badlands aftermarket tssm. He has retro-fit these to older even shovel era bikes. I'm not aware of him ever posting a diagram. Hint hint, uncle spans.
He is in NZ so his time frame is different. Good Luck!

The earliest Auto canceler I could find was in a 91 FLHTC. I couldn't find any earlier documentation. Maybe that part of your wiring harness could be upgraded to accept the later model auto canceler... If you have your manual check your wiring harness to that of a 91. Or maybe wire in a time delay relay, one for each side..

They don't have to Auto cancel. I wouldn't mind if the stayed on until I turned them off. I just hate holding the button down the whole time they need to be on.
I do have a manual with 91 wiring in it. I'll have to check in to that.

My '90 Glide has press on and press off flashers, plus auto cancel and all four flashers working together. I've had the bike from new! The auto feature is a pain in the proverbial, routinely turning off when you don't want them to, so I disabled mine, by disconnecting the white/green wire mentioned above.
The simplest way of upgrading your flashers is indeed a Badlands module - they make a wide variety.

Reason: Amended.
my '82 FXRS has that as well. ( have to hold ) well I changed stock signals for something less obtrusive ( signals in license plate bracket ) and then they didn't work at all, unless, you manually pushed button on-off-on-off etc. got a badlands voltage regulator or what ever it was called and problem solved. ( still have to hold button though) so, its sucks but could be worse. like others have said, you can update them pretty simple.
Thanks for all the info. I found that Badlands and Signal Dynamics make the modules. Anyone have any feedback on Signal Dynamics modules. They have a nice feature on theirs. The longer you hold the button down the longer it will flash before shutting off.
