Default Starter Problems

After discovering a clogged fuel filter, a jump start and the bike fires up. Rides fine. No problems. The next day I get a weak attempt at a start and then the starter just clicks like the battery is dead. Had the battery tested. Shows a good charge.

Thoughts on the problem? Probably electrical? I have no idea

1997 Heritage Softail Classic. S&S carb. Everything else stock.

Check your battery cables on both ends and make sure they are clean and tight.

How old is the battery?
Did you just check voltage or did you load test the battery?

Don`t buy a starter...

Have the battery load tested.

Disconnect and clean both ends of the battery cables, the terminals on the battery and starter and also where the ground cable attaches to the frame.

If this does not help, don`t panic, don`t buy a starter...you may just have to replace the electrical contacts in the solenoid (simple and cheap).
