If you order it direct from DD, they will set the odometer to whatever you tell them, so you can just replace the speedo and keep your mileage correct.
I was reading on their site last night within the first 100 miles you can program the mileage yourself, after that they charge twenty bucks to do it for you and it can no longer be set at home yourself.

Yes that would be correct... But I'm thinking with the new rebuild I'll let it start at zero . That way I'll be able to keep better track of mileage on the rebuild. Still gonna keep the original though. still works fine....
Update: Ordered it yesterday and here today. Never ever got anything that quick before.... Maybe I'll be able to get it installed this weekend....

I'm sure hoping you post a bunch more on this 98hotrod, some pics would be appreciated too.
I definitely will when its done. maybe even a little vid. Hopefully this weekend. After being as patient as I have been with the motor rebuild, I've learned a little about myself and expectations. there is no real reason to rush anything anymore. It just messes it up and creates a little frustration... So might as well enjoy the ride.....and the RIDE..
Well i got the Speedo installed today. Took about 2 1/2 hours to install and set up. Just need to take it out to auto calibrate the speed. Then it's done. Wasn't all that hard to install it. The teach seems react a little slow. Gonna call DD on that but everything else seems good. Chose the red background with ice blue needles. Little cold out today so calibration will have to Waite. Looks good. We'll see how good it works next week...
If it'll fit your dash I'm sure you can make it work.. Prot.
Hey got a question. On the back of the oem speedo for my 98 there is a W/gr wire that goes to the turn signal canceler. Any idea what that wire does. Looked at the wiring schematic only to see it goes there but don't know what it does. Thanx...
If I had to GUESS, I would GUESS that the wire going to your turn signal canceler is a Speed signal. It would have a pulse every so far so that the turn signal module knows that you slowed down and turned, etc.
