I know I’m bumping an old thread here, but I’d love to have this gauge on my 03 RKC. Any insider info on how the cut and splice wiring went, or photos perhaps??

No sorry no pics, The instructions are pretty clear. I tapped into the ignition feed for constant power and the tach and speed sensor. I believe that was all. My bike was carburated so I didn't have any sensor connections. Calibrating was a piece of cake and is very accurate. You don't need a different trans sensor. I don't use all the functions, my main concern was having the 140 mph speedo and the tach. Never can get the Harley Mini tach to keep working.. Been through 2 of them. The vibration of the bike kills the connection of the adjustable potentiometer.... I currently have my bike apart so if I get a chance I'll take a pic of the back of the speedo....

Awesome. Yeah I knew the mini tach was a no go. My brother has an 05 CVO Fatboy and is having the same problem with his mom tach, the third I believe. Thanks for the info.

I had a Dakota Digital speedo in my Esprit (RIP). It was great. Very accurate, which is really important when the difference between 79 and 81 MPH is about $300. It will take anything electrical as a sensor. If your bike has an electronic speedo sender now, it would have no problem at all using it. To calibrate, push the button, drive exactly 1 mile, push the button. Done.

The only time I look at my speedometer is when I see a cop car...

I have the digital version in my Softail. It delivers clear and quick to read info, better than needles. The ODO miles setting is a no brainer and easy to do. Easy install.

The gear indicator lags and I don't find it very useful. I'll just turn that feature off one of these days.

Been running it for a couple years no problem, so far so good. I'll add a different version to my FXR project if I ever get it finished.

Crap I forgot to mention, these as well don't like high rpm. I did have to send mine back for repairs. The terminal block solder joints had a week spot somewhere. Every time I would get up over 3500 RPM it would start flickering all the lights and the odometer would freak out and eventually black out. A quick snack in the head and it would return to normal. I told them what I thought was wrong because I could flex the connector on the circuit board and it would do it. What really sucked was that when I got it back it still did it.. They said they couldn't find anything wrong. So I had to send it back that same week... At that point with a little arguing they replaced the entire Speedo.... Still works though for now.. we'll see how long it last... My bike is built and I like to use the power. Solid mount motor can cause vibration issues... If it goes again I'll just leave it out...
