Save yourself some elbow grease and time by using aircraft stripper to get the clear coat stuff off. Comes in an aerosol can and if you let it sit for about two minutes it will wipe right off.

Thanks, monkeyboy22. I'd be a little scared to spray it on a part mounted on the bike (even masked off), but off the bike, definitely a good tip. Thank you
