Default Rear brake line

Since my bike is 22 years old I was thinking about replacing my rear brake line.
It doesn't have any problems yet I'm just trying to stay ahead of failures.
The OEM line is steel all the way from the master cylinder to past the brake light switch with a small bit of rubber after that.
Harley has discontinued the line.
Aftermarket only has steel braided line.

What do y'all think??
Is it worth it or is this a case of if it ain't broke fix it till it is????

If the steel line it doesn't look rusty, leave it alone. If the rubber line doesn't have cracks in it, leave it alone.

The steel part can be replaced with generic stuff from the auto part store. The rubber part is probably what is available in braided. The DoT5 fluid is really gentle on the steel lines.

Chuck it in the bin, should have been done long ago! I think I'm on my second stainless braided line. No brake line lasts forever and the rubber variety give a spongy feel, compared with a braided one. Goodridge and others make tailor-made kits which come with new banjo bolts and copper washers.

I have a Brembo to go on the rear shortly, plus a recon kit for the master cylinder and will probably replace the current braided hose as well, subject to inspection during the strip and build.

My local O'riellys can make that line for you. Check your local auto parts store.

My bike is 29 yrs old, and I stripped off the lines and tossed them in the trash can, including the steel line that runs up to the brake switch. Just can,t trust stuff that old. Maybe its over kill, but I also bought new calipers for the front and rear because of the age thing. I will be replacing both master cylinders shortly as well. just for piece of mind.

If your only thinking of the brake line, I,d say go ahead and do it.

I got a complete kit, front and rear from them.

If this is for your 95 FLSTC then here is a link and you put in the options you want, such as what colors etc.

The rear line is optional but is selectable. The kit replaces the OEM rubber lines, so you still need to figure out something else for the hard steel line. Whenever I get around to this upgrade, my intent is to flush the steel lines thoroughly unless they are trash.

I have Hawg Halters front and rear calipers, HD floating rotors, and these braided stainless steel lines sitting in boxes that I never got around to for various reasons.

Ok I found that this morning but I don't see how they can only replace only the rubber on the rear line as it is all one piece.

Can you take a picture of what they sent you for your rear line??
