My 92 FLSTC Vision
It has 46K miles on it. It is in pretty good shape, some corrosion on chrome. After market seat. Bags missing some hardware. After market pipes. Good paint.
Turn signals do not work. I think I need to replace turn signal module. Base Gasket is seeping some. Leaks a little oil after a ride, but leak seems to stop when it cools down.
I am accumulating a list of improvements. As I do so, I want to prioritize and make them consistent with a vision for the bike. So I want help in developing my vision for the bike and approach to improvements. Here is what I am thinking so far:
1. I want the bike to be a rider. I do not want to stress about every blemish. I want to be comfortable letting my kids ride it.
2. I want it to remain consistent with the existing look. I want to improve the current look, but not change it dramatically.
3. I want to use as many of the existing parts as possible. And use as many used parts that I can pick up at swap meets.
4. I want to make it functional to use daily and I am willing to compromise some of my other objectives for functionality. I am considering a quick off and on system for bags and rack.
5. I like doing little things myself in the garage. But I have very little wrenching experience so I am targeting easy things first.
Any thoughts would be welcome.
I know, this thread is worthless without pictures. Don't have any on this device. Will post when I get to another device.
I will also post my wish list of improvements.
1. Getting turn signals to work. Planning to replace existing turn signal module with Badlands. There are several choices. Thinking of just going with most basic, but I may want to upgrade lighting system to LED in future.
2. Getting bags the bike. Missing a part that is obsolete. Any suggestions on where to go for obsolete parts. Could not find on J&P site.
3. Getting windshield attached. Missing some hardware and there is a cross threaded bolt I need to get fixed. Considering getting a quick release system. Any suggestions?
eBay is your friend for obsolete parts
Memphis Shades is great for the windshield although their instructions could not be worse.
A fresh set of rings, cosmetic gaskets, dynatek ignition, rejet the carb, install new Torrington cam bearing along with an Andrews EV13 will do wonders for the engine. I had my heads milked for slightly more compression and to get the combustion chamber volume to be the same for smoother running.

What part are you missing?
Do you have a part number for it?

You will have to go with an HD detachable windshield to accommodate the 5 gallon tank.
If you can't find it that way there is always e-bay or these guys

I am planning to go to a swap on June 5 and see if I can find anything. If I cannot, I may consider replacing the entire mounting system for some kind of quick release system if it exists.

I went with some aftermarket bags because the stock ones were too small for me.
They have a keyed quick release mounting system (you need a key to release it) that has served me well for years.

A keyed system like you have would probably be optimal for me. But for the moment, I want to get the bike functional without spending too much money. Therefore, I do not want to spend big bucks for a whole new system.
I think your bike may have had part number 90346-94 for the original system. Any chance you have that part kicking around your garage?
