SE Heads that had some work done to them and .020 Wiseco pistons...nothing extreme (IMO, but what the heck do I know. ). No compression releases. Original work was performed by Stroker's Dallas. Last dyno was 81hp/83tq.

Battery was bought new 10-10-15, used for a week and then a trickle charger was hooked up until March 2016. After that, nothing unusual when starting bike, lights, etc. Trickle charger is hooked up each weekend and it is indicated that it is fully charged pretty quickly. Thanks for the battery cable suggestion.

I had previously purchased two batteries (made in China) from Batteries + for my Harley and Ducati - they stopped working one year and six months after purchase and gave me indications there was something wrong. I did not experience this with this fairly new battery.

With those 2 bits of information all I can come up with is metal fatigue on the pinion gear.

Were the 20 over Wiseco stock compression?
The pinion bear should have been fine with 10-1 comp or lower.
After that comp releases would have helped.

I had SE heads and that upped the compression to 9.5:1...previous pinion gear broke with stock pistons and SE heads.

That set up should have been fine.

So...a bit of time has passed. I did remove the previous All ***** 1.6kW starter...bought a new starter clutch (seems to be a common issue) which was replaced. Was noted that the bearings were not of high quality (made in China). I also noticed the O-ring gaskets they used were 2-3 times too large - I know as I bought new ones that were the next size down and were too big.

By happenstance, I called All ***** (AB) and great news for me is they have a lifetime warranty! AB said they know about the issues, did not tell me the details and didn't ask, gave me an RGA number and turnaround was about a week to 10 days.

So, just received a new 1.7kW starter (OEM = 1.4kW) > I'll have to mark this lifetime warranty info down if it goes south on me again. Hopefully not.

Battery is good.

Installed new heavy duty battery cables.

Also bought new pinion gear as there was a mark one tooth I could see. Will check the pinion gear for any wear also as the primary is open.

Why so long? Car and second bike issues, which have been resolved and $$$ issues. Thanks for the replies and learning experience. Now I have other work to do, new front tire, front forks - either change fork oil and springs or possible new Ohlins, new grips and finally able to have time to track down my electrical issue (different thread).
