1991 FLHS electrical problems
I went with the AGM that grbrown spoke of, It cost $10.00 more than the regular lead acid battery. Everything was in the box, the instructions said to slow charge it for like 9 hours or so from what I remember. The bike batteries are not deep cycle if they discharge it doesn't take long for Murphy to step in as you know. My first scooter was a 1974 Electra Glide 74 work would take me out of the area for three months at a time, i would get home to a dead battery every time and the batteries averaged about a year between replacements. One of the best wrenches at Long Beach Harley ( if anyone remembers Red) told me he was getting three to four years using a battery tender. Sold me! I average four to five and a half or so between replacements with the scooter sitting for the most part from Feb. to the first of April. That Chinese Junk was an Excide if I remember correctly that the local indy talked me into too..

I have a 91 flhs does same thing. It was the ignition switch it would also shut of while riding, straight wired just the ignition side of the ignition switch to a toggle switch boom no more issues. I left the rest wired the same.
