I was going down a back road when a pothole came out of nowhere. I then ran over it not realizing how deep it really was. Scared the hell out of me. I almost was expecting to go down but it never happened.Luckily it only warped the fender. So it rubbing on one side. That leaves me shaking my head on how to warp it back in to place without scratching the paint or putting any more dents in it.
Was it one of those extended fenders that wrap around the wheel and sit very close to the ground? Otherwise I can't imagine a hole deep enough to damage a fender.
You should check the front wheel. If it was that big of a hole, you may have bent the wheel or possibly damaged the tire.
As Prot says check the wheel. Look for dents in the rim especially if it is a spoked wheel. Try to get it in the air and spin it and see if it wobbles.
Also check the rear rim for the same kind of damage, it rolled through it too.
Don't take it off yet. I had mine tweaked when the tire went flat in a drive in chock. I got it in the air and used a pair of wooden dowels pushed up under between the tire and fender from the bottom end and used them as levers to pry and move the fender while it's still attached the the lower legs, it will be much easier to get it aligned with the tire. If the dents are on the sides I've had success using various sizes of C clamps to flatten and straighten them.
