As for the fork oil, you really should be replacing/changing as recommended @ 10k mile intervals. Sludge will build up and the dampers will not work as they should and will clunk. Always check the neck bearing fall away every 10k as well...
I change my fork oil and grease/check the head bearings at 5K intervals. I can't believe that new H-D touring bikes don't even have drain screws in the fork legs anymore (50K service intervals, I'm told-WTH!?!).

My 2011 Sporty doesn't have fork drain plugs either. Fortunately they are relatively easy to remove and strip.
