Default Helmet question

I have a HJC Modular and the thing is so loud that I need to get a new one, I
still have the original pipes so they are not that loud.
I do want to get the sena so I can communicate with the gf on the back, what
do you guys use that is quiet and you can hear in with the sena?
I do think I'll stay away from the modular ones thou.

I like my Harley (HJC) modular. Having the flip-up is very useful for drinking, cooling off, etc... as you know. A little less safe than full face due to the hinge, but if you want nice modular, go with Arai or Shoei.

I have a Sena (not the latest version) and really like it. The speakers are awesome, and I can easily listen above my Propipes. It is a great accessory, especially on long trips. We don't have to do the hand gestures on where to turn, get gas, etc... entering a new town. You can pair up to 4 people, and probably more on the newer versions. The speaker works well with full face helmets. It's harder to hear a person who has a half face, due to the wind.

Here's a pic of my helmet. Don't be fooled by the pic, it's really a nice black helmet underneath the sprayed on white plastic dip. White is the most visible color. If I get tired of it, I could always go to pink. :-)

I recently bought the HJC IS Max II and IS 33 II for OL. Paired them with the sena 20s. So far I could not be happier. I have supertrapp 2 to 1 and have no issues hearing my music, the OL or with phone calls. I am sure there are better helmets out there but I wanted a modular and the HJC fit my head well. First modular for me and I can already tell you this, I will never go back to a full face for a cool weather helmet. Also bought a HJC IS cruiser for hot days and plan to use ear buds with the Sena. I had to play with the speakers by adding the spacer and the foam pads to get the best sound but I am happy with it... from all I have read on the sena speaker placement is crucial for good sound. Also read that the optional chin curtain helps with noise. I bought it for when it's really cold but have not felt the need to use it.

+1 for Shoei. I ran HJCs for 15+ years...until I won $1K worth of Shoei gear from Revzilla (a helmet for me and the Mrs.). After owning the Shoei, I won't go back. It's quieter, lighter, and breaths better! Shop around for the best deal, but I like Revzilla's customer service (long before they gave me free stuff).

i used to run a Bilt Modular from Cycle Gear and put a Sena 20s on it. After a recent wreck, I had to get a new helmet. I got the exact same Bilt helmet, but this one comes with an integrated Sena. Honestly cant comment much on how it's working out as I havent been able to ride again yet. However i have tested it's connectivity with Siri (iphone) and it seems to work fine.

See if you can find a shop who has a trained helmet fitter! Made a big difference for us, especially for Mrs B. Some of the noise may simply be because your helmet is a poor fit and is not sealing well around your ears. A trained fitter will be able to check that and offer better options. We have Schuberth helmets, with their built-in blue-tooth intercoms.

earplugs in the helmet make the windnoise quieter and your speakers easier to hear

I wear all half helmets but all of them have padding in the chin strapping where it totally covers the ears. No wind noise...
