From S&S site:
S&S cases for 1984-'99 big twin engines, give the engine builder the option of venting the crankcase breather from a fitting on the crankcase, through the cylinder heads, or both. We recommend using both crankcase breathers in engines of 96 or larger displacement. To make this possible in all applications, there are two crankcase breather holes available in the rear of alternator crankcases for 1984-99 models. One is in the stock location, and the other is angled down to allow the installation of a crankcase breather fitting in chassis with integral transmission/oil tank.
My 96 is too close to the tranny on the dresser to run both, but the 113" works perfectly with both on it. Go figure.
Its been raining here a lot and I do still work so I ride ever chance I get.
The problem has been stated where S&S says anything over 96" needs to be vented from heads and crank case. I am not finding my crankcase vent yet, if it exist.
You have an S&S engine built and sold by them? Just ride and enjoy, there's a good chap. If you had scratch built it from a jumble of parts that advice would be useful to know, but you have one of the finest engines on the planet. I've no idea what breathers mine has.......
That's odd since they suggest running both. Might give 'em a call and give them the engine numbers to verify.. I irritate them often enough and they still help out.. LOL..

Did you get an S&S service manual with yours? I've looked through mine, for the 3 5/8" and 4" bore engines (up to 113"), but haven't come across anything relating to the breather system, otherwise I could have been more helpful. Mine is a crate engine, complete with IST ignition, carb, ACRs etc.
You chaps are a bad influence to me most days......

Reason: Added para.
If it truly needed the bottom case breather they would have installed at the factory..... However if you really need it, it should be at the rear of the case to the left of the oil pump. Page 4 of the following link shows it's location....

Yes I got the engine manual and it shows the oil pump with the vent ports to the left of it, but I don't see the crank vent ports on my engine.
Went for evening ride last night on an open hwy. Did a couple runs up to 5k, Quite happy with the launches.

That's odd... No 1/8" plug?
I didn't realize that your motor was set to 9.8 comp. I was looking at the specs and with the 585 cam it bleeds off to 179 ccp. with the 570 (which is very similar to the 585) I'd bet it would perform better with the 40* ivc as compared to the 45* ivc. I wonder if anyone has tried it with that cam....?
Not knocking your motor or anything like that.. Just Curious, That's all....
