Hi, just been reading through this thread and was wondering if you can help me..
reading through the lines apart from the battery location newer bags (93 up)will fit early models ?
i have a 1991 glide with lid missing and buying later bags looks easier than finding a lid ..and better locks i believe.
would be great to have some feedback on this
thanks

You should start a new thread. It will get more attention. Good Luck!
Hi. Sorry for late respond. I used bags from -95, and they goes right on, exept the front upper mounting hole. I fibeglassed the old one and made a new hole.
Thought I'd give a little update, since it's almost 7 years since I 'finished' the refurbishment of my -91. Have switched to a Mikuni HSR 42, feels very different from the CV carburettor + new cam EV27. much better response and more power. Have also changed the inmate in the mufflers to Fullsac -2.0" the mufflers are from a Cvo -14 mod. Then, last summer, while the rain was pouring down, I wanted to do something with the rear end. Always thought there was a big gap between the rear fender and the bags. So, ended up making a template with window foam, shaped it and used fiberglass. When I stared in -17 fixing the project, I got hold of bags from a -09 mod. Made some brackets and used screws to attach them, but this will be too complicated in the length. Welded on some angle mounts at the front and kept the ones I had made before at the back. Got hold of some simple screw holders from Ebay. Late last winter before spring came, I stood at the back and found that it was too messy back there. Found an angle grinder and removed the fasteners for the taillights and turn signals. Welded the holes again and found some small elegant backs on Ebay to attach to the bags, these are actually from -14 and up. And, after a bit, try to figure out how these should work and they work now. Painted everything myself, but not quite the right color. Will probably have to have a chat with my painter, so it will be the right colour.
