Holy crap Bro!! What a job. All things considered, any regrets? No doubt you'll have some enjoyment in the task and huge pride when complete, not to mention an awesome and meticulously built bike.

None that I can think of now. If you think about it, everything on this bike is repairable or replaceable so if I unearth something that's marginally operational, I repair or replace it.

I was originally gonna buy a V111 but realized that I'd have a lot more fun building a motor than outright buying it, so I guess I prevented a regret in that regard.

I though about going to a 103"er but didn't want to bore the cases that big so I stuck with a 3 5/8" bore and a 4 5/8"stroke (S&S crank). I coupled that with a set of stage III heads from Hillside, S&S jugs and Axtell angle top pistons and a Woods W8 cam with a Supertrapp... I messed up with the carb. I'm using an S$S E but it falls on it's face at 5100 rpm.. I am gong to get a G this winter.... The torque hits 100 lbs@2850 rpm and tops out at 115 with the HP topping out at 109... The best thing is that I'm still getting 40 mpg (when not getting on it)..... It's a fun reliable build and does everything i want it to do....

Very good power ...you may what to look at a 45mm Mikuni flat slide...it would bolt up to the S&S manifold w/ the adapter and would probably find all the TQ/Hp possible ...(jetted correctly)
unless it's just a Made in USA thing ...just saying ...

Thanks, it does feel good....
No no not really a USA thing, I just like S&S, their easy to work on and very tunable keeping the afr's where they need to be especially with the addition of a ThunderJet.

Those are really good numbers, and in the ballpark of where I'd like to be when I'm done.

You bring up Axtell, how long ago was this build? I ask because they still advertise kits but I can't seem to get answers from someone who knows the answers. No disrespect, but a woman has answered the phone once, and called me back once, both times she doesn't know the answer and tells me some guy will call me back. Right now I'm waiting for a call back tomorrow (I'm told) because he's out.

All I want to know is what piston options they offer. Considering the numbers you're getting with your combo I'll probably go with their 102" kit that fits in my case as-is, but I'd like it with angled dome pistons. All they show on their whole website is flat tops. And I just like cast iron cylinders.

I've currently got an HSR 42 from my Sportster build I'll break the motor in with, but eventually upgrade to the 45. The bike I got came with a Super E that needs a rebuild, and I just like the Mik carb better. I've already got a bunch of jets and needles, and I know my way around that carb really well so I'll stick with it. Going with a Super G will require about $600, and I'll need the Thunderthingy to keep it rich at high RPM's.

I'm also waffling on the cam now too. I got a free 585V from my dad who pulled it out of his Dyna, but now I'm thinking I'll need a later intake close to compliment the domed pistons and higher CR.
