Well, I got an official build plan:

106" Axtell cast iron cylinders
Hammer Performance "Sledge" CNC head porting, to include: 1.98"/1.61" valves w/ 7mm stems, .600 lift beehive springs, intake floor welding, compression releases, 10.5:1 CR milled chamber volume, milled for 30 degree pistons, new guides, seats, etc..
Hammer Performance 3.8125" 30 degree dome/dished pistons (30 degree dome for squish, then dish to drop CR for pump gas)
Cometic MLS head and base gaskets
Case Boring my S&S case

And I'll be using my current items:
S&S 585V
HSR 42 (with a 45 upgrade in time I'm sure of it)
Thunderheader
SE ignition module (came with the bike)

This weekend I'm gonna pull the studs out of the case and strip the heads down (and sandblast all that damn black paint off) and box it all up for shipping.

Also, since most people in the Big Twin market don't know who Hammer Performance is, they are huge in the hop-up market for Sportsters. Back in 2011 I used them on my 88" Sportster build. When it was done it pulled 100/100 on pump gas with the CV40 carb and slip-ons. Right now they're pimping a 120hp 883-1200 build, and they're the only ones I know of in the industry that do a domed piston with a dish in the center to help with CR on pump gas.

This kinda stuff just pisses me off. Not only was the caliper piston ground down on one side, this is what happened to the rotor when compared to an OEM replacement I got off eBay:

The one on the left is a low mile replacement from Fallen Cycles. The one on the right is the one off the bike. The rotor clearly says "MIN THICKNESS .27" The left one was over .3, the right one was .22... Some people just don't know **** about maintaining bikes. Good for this guy for riding the bike as far and long as he did, but for god's sake do some PM once is a damn while!

I am very interested in seeing what those heads flow at 10" and 28" respectively to lift intervals of .100" and what your combustion chamber size is going to be. Keep us posted thanks.

I'll be sure to get the data (for what they're costing me). Hammer has done great for me before so I'll return them some business.

The 585's 45 degree intake closing will be at the edge with 10.5-1, from my experience with S&S cams they hit softer than the other known "race" style cams. Knowing this the S&S 585 should survive in your direction with some fuel, good street manors and heat will be down. Negative is some slight performance loss compared to a aggressive cam so some trade offs.

You have a balancing act right now with the bagger weight, too late of a intake closing cam she will be soft in the 2300-2600 range were a bagger lives. I ran a 10.2-1 stroker motor with a aggressive Woods 42 degree intake timing for 7 years in a bagger and a pleasure to ride, this is also my reasoning on why I believe the softer 585 design and 45 degree closing will live at 10.5-1 and the power will still be in the riding area, just need a good tune which you said is your strong point.

Note: I never ran compression releases in the mentioned engine but my starting system was upgraded to the top of the food chain, several gear heads on here have recently had compression releases installed when doing builds and I have them in my 130" they do take pressure off the starter and since you have your heads off kinda think about them.
