Yeah I'm going to do something with them. Either solder or butt connectors. That was a nice surprise left for me from when the PO installed a new deck.

Inner fairing is back on and today I'm working on finishing the clutch cable and starting to replace the oil lines.

Today's question has to do with the amount of shavings found in the clutch cover. Is this something to be concerned with? There were some shavings on the drain plug but not really bad.

I think I found the culprit. Flakes are not magnetic and it looks like I'm needing a new housing?

The bike's back together and I took it for a test ride today. The jury is still out on the fork cartridges and I'll have to see how it rides 2 up. I've been riding a different bike while this was torn apart so I need to get a feel for this again. The ride feels a little stiff and it feels like it's wobbling in the corners. Thanks everyone for your help.

It'll be interesting to hear how you get on with your 'new' forks. What shocks do you have to go with?

I have the Progressive Suspension 444's which are a huge improvement over the stock air shocks.

Fork update.
I had a shop do the front to save some time and we figured three C-clips would be sufficient for my weight (250) plus my wife and our gear. We were wrong, it rode horrible, like a solid axle one ton truck. So I pulled them apart, yanked two clips out and now it's plush with a slight fork dive that balances nicely with no bottoming. I could probably put another clip in but we prefer a softer ride and I need to lose weight. I still need to dial in sag but the bike rides way better now and it seems to sit lower in the front.

Before

After
So, if you decide to install this kit and need help, call Progressive and talk to Jorge. That dude knows his stuff. Also, follow the instructions and start with only one clip and add from there. It's a PIA on a full dresser but still better than the air fork. Follow the directions for fork oil, do not add more.
