Not sure but, it appears that something is keeping the front legs from moving up. Like, the top springs are collapsed and the bottom spring don't have any pressure on them.

Hard to say not being able to touch it.

The top springs were bottomed out and it was a pain to loosen them but finally got them off and they opened up a lot to the point where to where I have to compress and zip tie to get them back on. It's going slow but I am making progress.

You can take a ratchet strap and wrap it between the outer legs and up around the triple tree and ratchet it up to put the top springs on. If you have those off already, you can remove the outer legs and see if something is stopping it from moving up like it should.

Sent ay a PM.

Tom84FXST, any ideas? Figured since you build springers you may have an idea or 2.

The same front end on ebay & in the DS catalog looks the same way ... the top springs compressed. I don't have any experience with springers but it does seem odd that the top springs are fully compressed.

Unless I forgot. Been a while since messing with shocks in general... Top springs are for rebound. Meaning when you hit a pot hole, bottom springs absorb the down force. Top springs stablelise inertia (bounce). So they should be a tighter wound.
That image looks kosher to me.
Hidrolic forks are wound similarly.

Okay did all I am going to do today, that picture is exactly the way my top springs look now with the wave in top spring and such but what concerns me is the acorn nut is only 3/8" any tighter and the top spring bottoms out, if I go any further I am back to square 1...Well tomorrow is another day and another hand full of advil
