Picked up this thing a while back. My FXR had the factory headers with cross-over tube, which made getting to the plug without this thing all but impossible.

Easy peasey with it.

Even has a nifty O-ring that gives it some grab on the wrench you use to turn it.

Can't say I've ever found anything on the tappet screen, though. Still makes me feel good to look at it once in a while.

Yeah, the right tool makes it easy. However, in 90K miles, I've never found anything in there and gave up on regularly checking it at oil changes a couple decades ago. These ain't shovelheads or early '85's with dry clutches. On those, yeah, check it each change.

Id rather buy the Allen head plug than buy that tool for two reasons- 1) the allen plug is probably cheaper than the tool, and 2) once you have the allen head plug, you can pop out that screen any time or anywhere with a common allen wrench. Just my .02 cents.

I have some tool used in the aircraft industry that was given to me years ago. Looks like a screw drive but shape for the plug.
