Is there by any chance a Statue Of Liberty on the side of the tank? In '86 they did some #'ed "Liberty Edition" FXRs & FLHs. Pretty sure they whey a deep plum (looks black) & silver. Dont know about '87. Also remember #'d models of FXRC in a medium blue & black from '87 I think. For the most part it always seemed to me that the #'s just kept people from doing what they wanted to do with them. Never seemed to make a difference on resale. 'Cept to the one sellin.

It doesn't have statue on it, but it is deep plum and grey in color. I guess it doesn't really matter to me as far as worth. I didn't buy it to try and make money. I'm not looking to sell it. Was just curious about the significance of the tag on the tank.
Guess I was in a bad mood when I removed the original post, and after 24 hrs and no response, I figured what the heck, nobody knows about this yr bike.
Anyways, I was wondering what was special about this model in 1987. It has a tag on top ofthe tank that says 1987 Electra Glide Custom, Vehicle No.280 - 800, which tells me they only made 800 of this model. It does say Classic on front fender.
Just curious.
I'll try to get some better pics, Jim, showing the tank label, and better side view of tank paint graphics. Right now, it's in the shop for an electrical problem, happened on the 4th, stranded, had to be towed in, everything closed for holiday. Weird thing, my son's Heritage busted a fork seal that same day as he was riding home,.....curse?
Could be the paint job. Mine is a '99 special edition Fat Boy "Silver Edition" Different tank logo and exclusive (for that year) solid Diamond Ice color. Only 700 were painted like it and they were all sentto Germany. 700 bikes between Fat Boy, Heritage and Softail Std.
The one thing I have found with these bikes, (mine is an '86 #86/650) is that the dealers don't have any info or special parts for them. I was trying to get some replacement "Classic" decals for the front fender, and they don't exist, and according to the factory were never produced!
Mine has blue decals, and just can't seem to find them, can get silver etc, but not blue.
Oh well, at least she runs like a tiger [sm=biker.gif]
I had an '86 FLHTC Liberty Edition. It was black and grey. Other than decals on the front of the fairing and sides of the tank, I don't think anything else was different fromany other FLHTC that year. It had the plainfinish engine, which as I recall, was standard equipmentfor "non-Ultra" Classics.I believe the wire spoke wheels were optional for both the Classic and Ultra Classic. So, I think the black and chrome engine and the wire spoke wheels aretwo itemsthat make Greybeardrider's bike "special".And what a beautiful, well kept bike it is.
