Yesterday headed into work late. So I grab my trusty FXR. Haul *** get there on time. Couple of 100mph shift on the back roads kinda fast.after my 16 hr shift I go out to leave everything seems normal. Bike fired up sounds great. I take off down the road no problems. Come to a stop by using the front and rear brakes as well as down shifting. I take off first then second 25-35 mph then my rear tire locks up.
so bike is in third clutch in motor is running. If I let the clutch out the bike will die so I cut the ignition off. I can barely Rock the bike back and forth. After a few min the lock up let's go. I am able to put it back in neutral start up shifts into 1st and limp back to work. I am thinking trans because I recently adjusted my shifter pawl but had no problems going to work. ....... What do you guys thunk.
Sounds like the trans is in 2 gears. Had it once on a truck that broke a shifting fork, never heard this happens to motorcycles as well. Especially the release after a few minutes is weird.
Glad to hear you didn't lose it on the lock up. Definitely sounds like it was into gears simultaneously I would check your shift drum make sure that's all tight and check the dogs on the shift Forks where they go into the shift drum you might have broken one. almost what it sounds like
