does anyone have pics to show me how to make my CV carb run leaner? im running way too rich right now. im told there is not an air screw but instead a fuel screw that has to be adjusted. bike runs awesome above 600 RPM. below that it spits and sputters and backfires. took the plugs out. they were dark black but not wet. any help would be appreciated.
decel pop. black plugs, super sooty exhaust. runs rough off of idol, once above about 600-800 RPM runs great other than decel pop. the exhaust smells rich
plugs looked good until i put new head gaskets in. im fairly confident it was sucking air before i did that. im finding the previous owner wasnt the brightest with some things and my guess is he adjusted it (the carb) to compensate when it was. now that its sealed up properly, its in a rich condition. and yes i changed the exhaust gaskets when i did the head job. lol
That makes sense. (PO over-richened the carb to compensate for an air leak)
I'd go back to where I started: Go to CV Performance and review the documentation. Get a jet kit. I'd go ahead and get a rebuild kit, too. Pull the carb, find out what jets you're running. I'd put everything back to stock and then work from there.
