I don't see how shorting the battery is going to cause the ignition module to blow out. Does that bike have fuses or breakers? Either way, check for power at the main breaker/fuse and work your way out from there.

All you need is a test light to probe and keep going until you run out of electricity.
Use the pointy end and I guarantee you will get a free blood test or two, -
comes with the program no matter how carefulll you are!.
Note --ALWAYS test the test light first!! --

Quoted for truth!
Test lights (you want one with an incandescent bulb because they draw more current) are wonderful things. Cheap is fine. I've used spare sockets and bulbs and even a spare turn signal by grounding the body.

The schematic in your service manual will tell all. Work your way back from the component that lacks power. If you lack a manual, bet the factory book and parts book too. They are the most useful Harley tools you can own.

on the splash pan behind the battery right side is the main circuit braker - if it cooked it its shot you can jump the two terminals and see if stuff starts to work again - OH that its a thing to get to easier to remove the rear tire but have done it with out doing that
