I opened my primary to replace the starter clu5ch on my /85 FLHTC, and found a thrust washer ditting on the bottom of inner primary. The manual diagram showes a thrust washer just after the outer primary needle bearings for the pinion shaft. My question is exactly where does it go? Over the end of the shaft? Sorry if this a dumb question, but I have no idea. My starter clutch is completely worn out, so very loose. Thanks for any help with this.
And that is the end that goes into the Cover bearing... so without support it would feel very Loose indeed... Some that work fine can in fact be removed from the fork!!!
