I have oil seeping out from under the washer behind the nut on the case bolt. I know it may appear to be coming from the rear base gasket but it is not. I've cleaned the area, run the motor and can see when it starts to weep from under the washer. Two questions please. A. What horrors will befall me if I loosen that nut, clean the area and install a new washer with some sealant? B. Is there a special tool to remove the oil pressure switch or will a 12pt. socket get it?
Pull the nut & washer on both sides, clean & degrease well, smear a little Hylomar on the threads and back of the washer install & torque. Use a little brake clean or rubbing alcohol on a rag to clean any excess. Fixed many a case stud seep this way in frame.

Yeah mine did that after the last time I split the cases. I got too stingy with the RTV I reckon. No problem taking it loose - won't hurt anything. Just do it when it's cold engine and torque it back to 25 ft/lbs.
I tried all the aforementioned tricks and ended up a copper washer but still get a slight oil stain on my natural cases after a long ride. They now have bonded sealing washers in all sizes. I never knew they made such a thing till I got that last top end gasket set from HD about 10 years ago. I'm gonna put one of those on it one of these afternoons.

Do this! If you cant find hylomar, use permatex 85420 permashield fuel resistant gasket dressing and sealant. Can get it at autozone or orielly. Its pretty much the same stuff as hylomar. Its good stuff! Never gets hard like silicone. YD
So, it is done. Was so easy I didn't even have to remove the oil pressure switch. Already had the Permatex so I went that route. I'll pick up a few of those bonded sealing washers in case the fix fails. I'll only put one on the nut side though cuz I'd have remove the whole primary to get that long bolt out and that AIN"T gonna happen.
