My 2000 F-350, which I bought new, had the stock alternator for 12 years. Stock died, I went through 3 new alternators in the next 3 years. Found frayed wire, replace alternator, been good for 7 years now.
To be flat honest I haven't been impressed with the Cycle Electric system since I installed it.

There's not much wiring to a charging system you have your positive to the regulator and regulator to ground and battery to ground and then your connections to the stator that's it, anything beyond that must be a bad battery. A poor ground on your regulator will not allow shunting of voltage to ground or back to the battery creating to much heat to the field.. make sure you have no voltage drop to the regulator... What you read at the battery you should have at the regulator.. identical..
