thanks for all the info.
The reason I say mph is that is the only gauge it has. I am sure you are correct that its a hard mounted evo causing it.
I have checked all external stuff and will check the mentioned. The bike has 24k on it and everything is original.
It takes a special kind of nutcase to love a softail as there is no way to get rid of all vibration.
For me I love the vibration as it tells me everything is working like it should be and my Heritage has a drivers back rest which along with the vibration provides a very nice back message at 3k or better RPM's!!!!
It's extremely hard to tell over the internet if your bike has more vibration than it should.
Are your hands or feet going to sleep while riding?
You have to remember that the softail has a hard mounted engine and no matter what you will have vibration.
If you are looking for a completely smooth ride you need to get a bagger.
Try wrapping the engine up in a lower gear, does it vibrate around the same rpm range in a lower gear as well as in 5th? Is it possible you are getting some kind of slight difference of power in each cylinder at a higher RPM? See if it is a engine vs driveline problem..
Like above, pull in the clutch etc....
I have had weird things happen like an ignition act up at different Revs, I have had a rounded cam lobe in a car once, which made it act strangely
Swap the rear pulley for one with less teeth to lower your cruising RPM.
That will turn a stock EVO Softail into a real pig...
OP: Pull the tanks, loosen the top engine mount, loosen lower engine mount bolts and transmission mount bolts, loosen exhaust mount bolts and the exhaust nuts on the heads.
Torque everything back up to service manual specs.

Adjust primary chain.
They're already kind of piggish in stock form. Vibration is part of the deal with an EVO softail.
