Default Spring start issues help

Hi guys need help
so went to start my 1988 FLSTC... long story short battery tender green al winter. Then tried starting would turn over once then stop. Lights work well etc... have old water acid battery noticed all holes pretty empty of water. So filled it up. I am assuming I killed this battery . So it’s plugged in for the next 2 days if still red would I be right to assume that’s what it is .
Malabo it was spitting out oils from the breather tube bit read that is somewhat normal from resting all winter... any thoughts
thanks guys

Odds are the battery is shot. You can pull it and take it to an auto parts store and have it load tested, or just bite the bullet and get a new one.

The oil puking is normal.

Yep.
You fill them, let them outgas for 30 minutes to an hour, seal them, and finally put them on a trickle charger to top them off.
If you do all that the batteries will last you a long time.
BTW once you seal them you don't open them again.
