I don't know for certain, however that circlip is only a retaining device, so I would expect the ring/washer underneath it to lift off. It is that ring which does the work of holding the thing together, backed up by the circlip. It may be 'stuck' to the rest of the clutch by a thin film of oil.

Ok,

I've got it out. Found this thread : https://www.hdforums.com/forum/evo-c...989-flhtc.html

This is what I found. The bearing is a bit moving.
What is your thought about it?

Daven's thread is excellent on the bearing change.

Yes, replace the bearing. They are not that expensive and you are 90% "there" already.

How did you get the ring off to remove the lock ring? Pry bars?

I used old circlip pliers that where bended.
It wasn't that hard.

So, you agree? The bearing is to loose?
It's the first time I have bearing issues. So a second opinion would be welcome

Whenever I go that far, I replace. It's not an expensive part. Is that the only place where you're seeing any play?

As mentioned that fat conical ring is an aftermarket reinforcement measure someone installed after having to replace the clutch hub when it cracked at the keyway, still have a few in repair the stash from those days, came in 2 sizes so they particular to the application. Silver and gold colors are the tell differences.

Next is it's a press fit, you'll need access to a hydraulic press or a way to make something up, I used a socket a size under as an arbor to push the hub out of the bearing & shell. I have seen hardwood like oak and some all thread used as a puller while the ring was heated with a propane torch before, extra set of hands helps this way.

Next is I would not put back together without it, those hubs were notorious for breaking why that thing was invented. Install is easy just heat the ring after the hub & shell are back together and it'll drop right into place ans shrinks tight as it cools.

TwiZted, thank you for the detailed description!
I ve ordered a press, so when it's in, I will be able to replace the bearing. And finish the job.

I will keep posting how everything goes.
