Glad to hear you got things sorted out and sealed up and thanks for the follow up

As you say, it`s definitely not for sealing crankcases...
Yeah, that's mostly why I offered a disclaimer, of sorts. I bought the only thing available at the time around here, 15+ years ago...

NAPA brand, but it was probably "walmart grade"

Well, the dealer said it might take several weeks for the new rocker boxes to come in, it took 4 days .

Shiny new made in USA rocker boxes.

Were the best, James stuff slipped off that pedestal 15+ years ago, Cometic if you want do it once and done gaskets.

OP, isn't for the heavy handed types but I have used a rubber mallet, a towel and chunk of plywood to straighten out warped evo rocker covers before, early ones all you had to do was look at them hard and they'd tweak. Still got a big bag full of the rubber gaskets for those.

I use sealant on a lot of gaskets (Hylomar).

There are many applications where a sealant is not needed, but it just helps make the job easier, such as holding a gasket in place during assembly.

The Hylomar doesn`t harden, and when it is time to replace a gasket, it will not be stuck (embedded sometimes) in the aluminum.

Easy to say fix the issue, but a lot of the stuff some of us work on is impossible to find parts for.
do you use aerosol or tube /

Depends on the application, flat thin gaskets spray, some rubber preformed or hard mating surfaces tube.

BUT and a big but not on evo rocker covers, you want them clean and dry no sealer, sealers can allow the middle ring to move or the gaskets to squish out instead of seating down solid.
