You're only asking for problems cuz what if it doesn't bleed down? .
LOL Why wouldn't they bleed down? They're not solids!!
Of course you have to walk away for about 20- 30 minutes. They WILL bleed down and until the PRs spin , you don't turn over the motor!
Let me say this... the guy I got this tip from owns a Harley performance/ machine shop in Montreal named NTC machine shop. He does a LOT of motors. Today, I started my 106 twinkie after pulling the PRs out to chamfer the tops and bottoms of the upper exhaust PR covers since the Woods .650 lift cams make the PRs bang against the inside of the upper covers. I pumped up the lifters, adjusted and made sure the PRs were spinning while on the centerlobes and when I started the bike there was not a single tick. I'd rather have that than waiting for the ticking to go away while the PRs are banging off the lifters and rockers until the lifters are full of oil!!

Because not all lifters had the same bleed down rates and who the f*** wants to wait 20 to 30 minutes.. I know I don't...
AndAnd not only that some of these guys are novices so they don't even know if the lifter bled down or if they raise the valve so why take that chance...
The few times I have been around a top build with lifters and cam( 3 of my own).
2 had adjustable push rods the rest did not.
Each one took 10 to 20 min. each run time for the lifters and valve train to quite down
Do not attempt to readjust. I never pump up my lifters before I go to set the preload.. You're only asking for problems cuz what if it doesn't bleed down? So you got a fully pumped up lifter and you set it to .140" pre-load... Smack there goes the valve into the piston... That's why they want you to wait 20 minutes or so, so it does bleed down. The fact that it bled down as you adjust is not an issue.
That happens all the time with mine and I never have any issues.. Sometimes though it takes more than a minute for the lifter to pump up when started.. Actually it can take several minutes, so don't be surprised but don't go crazy on the RPMs either... 1500-2000 rpm is sufficient..

Thanks for the reassurance guys. All makes sense now. 👍
Really appreciate the advice.
Cheers.
Hey 98, just out of curiosity - when buying a set of EZ install PRs, are they all same length? because you adjust each one to fit accordingly anyway?
Or do some manufacturers of EZ install PRs still make the exhaust ones longer than the intakes ? (I didn't check mine for any differences in length)..
I believe you're referring to the quickies. And I'm not sure cuz I've never used the quickies.. I just use regular adjustable pushrods and yes they are different lengths intake to exhaust..
