Default Setting Base Timing

I am starting reassembly of the 93 Evo. 10:1 Wiseco pistons, EV-27 cam and a Crane HI-4N ignition. I set the base timing to where it was at disassembly as a starting point but I am looking for some insight on what advance curve might be good to start on. I am set to Mode 6, which is Dual Fire, Multi Spark, Race Curve, Electric Start. Crane says to use the Race Curve for high compression engines, per the instructions. Now for the advance curve, Crane says mode 9 can be used for stock ignitions with 93 octane, BUT when using race curves, less advance might be necessary.

Anyone used the crane hi-4n with a high comp motor? I know its not a huge trial and error process, but I am looking to get close from the start if possible.

Thanks in advance.

Base line timing is pulling the timing mark allen plug, and breaking out the timing light to get that dialed in. Glass screw on cover is up to you to use the timing light through, but a hell of lot less oil mess in the end.

As for timing curves, need to play with them for your set up, since it they advance too fast as the RPM's rise, can put you into detonation as the timing over advances instead. So really to make short work of it, just put the bike on a Dyno so you can mainly square away carb jetting to start with, then see what timing advance you can run without detonation problems/final carb set up next.
