Default Broken Lifter Block

Just as I finished up my own bike....

A friend of mine brought his 1996 Tour Glide in for new lifters, cam, and a Torrington bearing.

Bike has 45,000 miles....first time engine was ever into.

Check out the rear lifter block....

I’ve never seen these break......Glad he brought it in now before it was too late.

Aloha,
looks horrible.
Where are the remaining parts of it?
Does it damaged any other parts from the cam drive?

Don’t have the nose cone off yet....will get that off sometime during the week. The rear lifter roller was shot. Once the nose comes off....hopefully the metal chunk didn’t do too much damage in there. Not worried about the cam....new one is going in anyways.

Looks like the pushrods and lifters lash weren't adjusted properly.

45,000 mi., never been opened from new..??
Im going to be interested in learning what went that long from the factory and eventually suffered such a failure.
Possible bad casting of the block itself that resulted in a “ fatigue type” failure..??

If it's a '96 and has the Torrington bearing, someone has been in there to install it. It's not factory.

It is indeed all factory. He brought in the bike for new lifters, new cam, and to replace the INA with a new Torrington.

Yipes! That does not look good.

This motor was running good before you opened it up?
