Why would you think , and continue to claim, that you should inflate to maximum pressure?
Thanks for the pic Omaha. It was starting to get weird in here and that fine specimen brought me back to my senses. And I think she followed Mike131's recommendation and inflated those puppies to their maximum pressure.

The number on the tyre is 'cold' and does not, for example, take into account ambient pressure, which can lower or raise pressure by several psi lower or higher. The sidewall pressure does not take into account rider weight, two riders, added luggage etc.
When in standard spec, on my FLHS I used 36F/40R for solo, but when riding 2-up and fully loaded while on tour, used 44/50 (Avon tyres). I use different sized wheels and tyres now, so adjust my pressures accordingly.
