Can't give ya a definitive answer on that, been many years since I've messed with them but, I would "assume" they should be tight. Any movement would get worse with time and possibly "waller" (southern term) out the holes where the rivets go through.

I'm sure someone with more knowledge will chime in on that one.

I'm going with "no movement." Should be "solid."

When I rebuilt my clutch, the plates were right at the minimum thickness allowable in the book. I just bought all new OEM parts for it and threw an extra plate in. It has worked out great.

I would ditch the spring plate. There have been many posts discussing failures.

Get rid of the spring plate. The one on my 97 FLHT went bad and the rivets locked up the clutch, I was fortunate that the rivets didn't score the basket. I replaced all the fibers and steels with the HD heavy duty police clutch. It has the extra clutch plate and a heavy duty spring.

Measure the plates and fibers and see where your at.
This is a while your there kinda thing so go accordingly.
Just add it to the basement project bills so it doesn't hurt to much LOL

Who was it that hid an engine in a trash can once.? I always giggle when I think about that story

Good grief this has turned into a year of bleeding money!

Should be all set here. Ended up ordering a Barnett Kevlar clutch kit. The version that deletes the riveted plate. (Part #307-30-10011)

I really liked the look of the one that Schex pointed to, but it's out of stock everywhere. Called the factory, and they said the last order of those they sold was to Drag and that was in May. They are all backordered now.

When I called my local HD dealer, he was less than helpful. Told me what I really needed to do was come trade in on a new model. I asked him why would I want one of your oil-sumping computer glides?

I always use barnett clutches for replace the sock ones. They have packs without the rivets for sportsters and evos

I have the Barnett Carbon in my Evo, any of them should work good, but,,,

I was looking at reviews on Amazon, it looks like the Kevlar friction plates now have individual pads on the fibers, instead of solid with grooves all around, not sure if this is correct,

I don't like the pictures from one of the recent reviews, I wouldn't be too trusting of that design, if a pad breaks loose,,,

Shovels have had that design for a long time.
