Still waiting on engine delivery from Jireh cycles, simultaneously fending off depression. I called to place the order on the 8th, they haven't taken payment yet (said payment would occur when ready to ship), but they did say it'd take about a month. Called for an update a week ago, was told I'd get a callback after lunch but none came.

How much is the engine, and clutch and transmission going to cost? Maybe it would be better to buy a used bike. Hang in there.

No way I'm buyin another bike. This Road King is my baby, and sentimental to me now since my dad got to ride it before he died last year. I wanted to do this anyway like I said in a previous post, but preferably as a winter project. C'est la vie, I suppose.
Engine comes to $4100 after shipping, about $600 for a scorpion clutch. The trans will come later, probably over winter. Primary chain & final drive belt have about 6k miles (I replaced both on the same day)
Why are you swapping the tranny? 6 speed? I'm running an Ultima 6 speed gearset in my 94 Ultra behind my homebuilt 96" and no issues with it at all. About $600 for it and self installation.
If you plan on rebuilding the Evo motor do yourself a favor and replace the crank with an S&S 4.625 stroker if you want to make any real power out of it... Stock crank pin is the weak spot... The cases on the other hand are very good..

Yes, for an OD. I was considering the same thing you have, or a Baker gearset but that's a huge jump in cost.

When I get to it, I'm gonna fix what broke & just freshen it up. A new crank isn't a bad idea though
