i checked it a little earlier and can see a drop right at the tip of the plug. when i tightened the clamp i can feel it was pretty loose so i retightened it. checked it a few hours later and no more leak. time to finish up with work so i can go for a ride.

Do you have a shop manual? If not a few years ago I downloaded a shop manual for like 7$? I believe. Its kinda cool to have it on an ipad or your phone.
I have a 1996 FB and the HD manual Not much difference in a 1995 and 96. If you need anything from the book just ask.
If you are unaware of it the tappet screen is something you need to look into. If you really did just get the bike you never know when it was cleaned last.
