I have a relatively new Ultima 107" motor with compression releases on my 1996 softail. The regulator had gone bad so I had changed both regulator and stator. Also, I changed to a new battery after the regulator went out
. If I fully charge the bike with a trickle charger and let it sit for 3 weeks, the battery will barely turn over. I have no electronics that I believe could have a parasitic draw. Basically just has headlight, brakelight, instrument cluster, horn, no signals or other items I can think of.
Any ideas what I can do to maintain the battery? I park in a condo garage that has no outlets so have to take the battery out to charge so thats a pia.
Have you done a parasitic draw test with a meter? My guess is something is draining it, if you are getting parasitic draw with a meter, disconnect one breaker at a time or fuse which ever one your bike has, until you find the circuit that is drawing the current, they do make solar battery maintainers if you can get sunlight to it in the condo garage, maybe splice a long cord and put the solar panel outside
Cycle electrics regulator. If I ride it for a while, will start up the next day, so i believe its charging. The voltmeter has it at 14volts when I rev it up. Will try checking on where the draw is from.
