Default Switching compensating sprockets need help figuring correct chain length!

I'm switching out my 21 tooth comp sprocket back to a 24 tooth. The clutch basket has 37 teeth and the primary chain seems short for the 24 tooth sprocket. Will the OEM part #40007-36A or equivalent work? I believe that's an 82 link chain. Maybe 81 link?

I paid to have the 21 tooth put on several years back so I don't know if a shorter chain was used. This go round I'm doing the work myself. Are you saying the stock length chain 40007-A will work then? I'm counting 40 links on the chain I just took off. Unless I count both sides which would be 80 links. I'm showing my ignorance here so appreciate any help

Bump... The primary chain I took off the 21 tooth comp pully and 37 tooth clutch basket is to short to go back on with my new 24t comp sprocket. I'm counting 40 links although it's a double chain so would that be considered 80 links? The primary chain I have ordered is an 82 link chain. Am I counting the old chain right? Also just to be sure will the new chain (replaces oem 70004-36A/B) be long enough for the setup I have? Thanks again for any feedback

Check this out, it gives chain lengths and required stock or fat tensioner shoe.
