Adjust the clutch correctly. If it still does it, it's fluid dragging. Harley's need a little drag to shift correctly but just oil drag. And nothing works better than Formula + in both gear boxes.
My guess is if you compare it with you oil, yours is thicker.
+1 on Formula Plus for Harley transmissions. Seems thinner/lighter than some heavy gear oils, which is good for Harley boxes that use needle rollers in places. Stuff smells like they make it out of fish oil or something...
