If you guys can give more info on the S&S fuel smell maybe I can help you out cuz that's all I've ever run. And I never have excessive gas smell in my garage so maybe I can do something to help you out let me know..

Mine just constantly leaks fuel out of the overflow tube. Probably a stuck float or something. I plan on going through it today and cleaning her up.
Check your fuel line, make sure it's not brittle and sending crap into the carburetor bowl. When I adjust my float on mine with the bowl upside down I adjust the float so it's level with the bowl body.. if you run parallel lines.. If you have the brass needle and the rubber tip is in good condition, just clean it with alcohol as well as the seat.. I've had issues with the Aluminum needle.. Also check to make sure you're petcock it's holding..
I took apart the carb and gave her a good cleaning. I went for a little ride after and she is running much better and looks like it fixed the leaking fuel from the overflow line. New plug wires, air filter, and fuel filter installed.
I found the OEM fuel gauge in the box of small parts my Dad gave me. I need to find the wiring diagram to get it wired up right, nothing on the back of the gauge is labeled. She looks much better with some nice OEM fuel cap and gauge. No work tomorrow, I'll get some more work done and go riding. I need those rear blinkers installed.

Wired in my OEM turn signals, glad to have those back. Put in a better looking seat bolt.
I found the wiring diagram for the fuel gauge cap in my manual. I wired it in and it worked! It went up to 3/4 tank when I turned on the ignition. The light didn't work but that could be the bulb. However, by the time I went out for a ride after finishing up all the work, the gauge stopped working. Weird. To add to the bullshit I found a pool of gas under the bike this morning. One step forward, two back.
I put in new throttle cables after one randomly snapped.
My buddy painted up a new front fender for me, got it installed over the weekend. I like it. Kind of completes it, in my opinion.
Now for the bad. I went for a ride down to PCB earlier today. Beautiful day and beautiful ride down there. On the way back she kept cutting out while riding. Going like 20-30 mph then losing all power. After I'd roll to the side of the road she would start back up after a minute and continue on. But rode and idled like ****. Fine while cruising highway speeds though. I made it home safe. When I got home I hooked it up to my HF trickle charger and it stayed red for a while. I'm thinking possible bad battery, voltage regulator, or stator.
