1340. You ain't going until May. Ya got 3 months to sort things out. If you think cam bearing needs changing. Do it. When I got my Evo it was leaking oil out of cam cover. I pull cover and changed bearing and seal. Still leaking. Thought I had buggered new seal up. Did it again. Still leaking. Pulled cam cover again. Discovered that bushing in cam cover had a large groove worn in it. All the seals in the world would not stop leak. Just replaced whole cover. All good since. Good luck.

besides what has been mentioned, not only the battery but the battery cables are worth checking out. I had a battery cable break on the way back from a meet up and my bike died. It was the original cables. I replaced them with heavy duty ones.

I have had problems with stuck brake calipers before after they got hot while riding in conditions requiring frequent brake use.

I also had the lever end of my clutch cable snap on me which sucked.

Those are the three main issues the whole time I have had my bike, so maybe those are three things to look at before a long trip.

I can't quite remember maybe i'm wrong but when I pulled my timing cover off I was ready to tap those two holes and I think they were already tapped. Maybe that's not true.

Before you leave you'd best check under your timing cover for signs of this -

When these things start to melt ignition failure will be coming soon and you don't want to get left stranded.

oh yea. The things I was most concerned about before I left were non issues for the majority of the trip. It's easy to get stuck in "preparing" for something like that. At one point, thanks to the advice of my wife, I basically just said "screw it. It's good enough", and it was.
