To each their own, but to not do even a simple static balance is just silly, I ran across a few lately that needed 3.5 oz, you would feel that and I'm sure the bearings would love it too.
Never had a weight fly off, if you try sticking them to dirt, I'm sure they will, if you stick them on before the surface is completely dry from whatever you cleaned the rim with, they won't stick for long either.
I was a dyna bead guy until I had a tire for some crazy reason decided to let the beads stick inside the tire, 1000 miles from home, there's a few other reasons they can be a PIA.
Pretty sure I can static balance two tires, sit down and pop a beer before you finish with the beads for one.
I've had wheel weights fly off. New tire was installed and balanced in 60 degree temps in Kansas. Weights came off some time before I hit Baker, CA and the temps were about 112 deg.
I change my own, too. I'm just too impatient to take them anywhere. I have a pretty fancy balancing rig I stopped using in favor of ride on tire sealant. I've had no issues with balance, and I actually watched it seal a puncture in my front tire not long ago.
Do you use that RideOn sealant in a *tubed* tire? Just curious because I've been using RideOn on my tubeless tires for quite a few years and love it, it works well, but now that I have a sled with spoked rims, I would like to hear from someone who uses it in a tubed tire and how well it works or not.
